Okay, I've get a beast of a dak, it's QC with a shell on it, I've got a bunch of stereo equipment and junk too. Anyways, I'm trying to do mods that increase torque, not interested in mods that gain hp at the expense of torque. From reviewing some posts it sounds like porting and polishing the tb improves torque as well as hp. For all you 4.7's that have a modified tb (especially fastman as this is the one I am considering) would you say it improved the low end or only the top end?

P.S. So far the only mod I have (engine wise) is the h.o. cams. As tony the tiger would say "their gggreat". J/k, I really like um though, they did pick up some good low end torque. I don't race or nothing but I love being able to just lighlty depress the peadal and fell power hence my desire for more torque. If you know of any other torque producing modifications (besides nos or forced induction) let me know. Thanks

Ian

Make yourself a homemade intake. It sounds cheap, looks decent, and really does add power, not to mention helps fuel economy. and will cost you about 55-60 bucks. and about an hour of total time.

You didn't metion what gears you have...I would assume 3:55's...

4:10's or 3:92's would be a good mod to do. It won't give you anymore HP or Torque, but it will put you in the powerband a lot quicker.

You could get the Leach computer flash as well.

i have a quick d's ported tb, and i thought that it helped out a lot. made my truck much more responsive. if i were you i would send your chip to mike leach company and have them flash it, he increases your fuel and air ratio, along with getting rid of the givenor.

I installed an intake first (before other mods)and lost a bit of low end.... The mid range had a much stronger hit and it sounded great, but if you are concerned about tq, it is not a great stand alone mod...

BUT, after the 3" cat back, dynomax and larger TB, it all came together nicely.

If you are going to increase the amt of air flow, you need to do it at the intake, Throttle body and exhaust at the same time.

The losing low end torque when adding an intake is a load of BS. It's a myth, as my dyno runs proved. You don't gain anything massive either, but you do get some better HP numbers at mid to high RPM's.

DemonDakota... Your sig mentions that you have a drop-in air filter... did you do the dyno runs with THAT or with an intake that had the 9" conical filter?

I didnt do any dyno runs, but when I installed the 360airintakez, my 4.7 quad cab wouldnt spin the tires from a stop anymore... the engine just bogged a LITTLE off the line. This was even after the PCM got used to the intake. I just think the intake alone allows the engine to pull so much air that it cant handle it IF you dont open up the exhaust.

BUT I definitely felt an improvement in the middle AND after performing the other breathing mods regained the burnout factor.

If you lost low end with an intake, your truck is so fked. Haha it might not be but losing low end with intake is crazy. I want to upgrade to 4.56's. I have heard it will be so much quicker off the line. I don't mind being at 4k rpm's goin 70, just don't pick a fight with me on the highway? Lol,

I dynoed with the cold air intake (360 Intake), but I switched back to the stock one for the summer (Georgia gets rather hot and nasty, so it really didn't help me out much). I'm just too damn lazy to keep changing my signature back and forth when I add/remove it. It did not in any way shape or form make me lose anything on the lower end of the HP/TQ range, but like you probably noticed, I do not have a stock exhaust, either (or TB, for that matter). The PCM is probably the cause of the bogging, and not the intake (unless the intake is sucking in hot air instead of cooler air). It's a moot point for me, but I definitely reccommend getting it dynoed BOTH ways, just to see what it actually does for you (or what it does to hurt you by sucking in hot engine compartment air).

I found that when I was running colder plugs, with my intake and TB and exhaust, i would bog with people in the car. I switched back to stop plugs and I got rid of the bogging.
