Well I had the popping Problem In my 00 Cc Dak Twice. The 1st time it was a recall for the clock spring. The second time just recently, I was told it was the Hub an bearing Assembly which was replaced under warranty.

ATTENTION ALL DAK OWNERS-and tony, brace your self. I have had this same issue. it happens to all trucks- just seems to be a weakness of the 2000 and up daks. what tony is most likely exp. is a bent or very warped(from hittin somethin at moderate speed)inner and/or tie rod. NOW, that in itself would be a non issue-not a big deal, tie rods are 200 bux a set for 2inners/2 outers(both sides of the front susp rig)plus 30-50 install cost. HERE IS THE REASON I WILL PROBABLY NEVER BUY A DODGE VEHICLE AGAIN. dodge decided that we fellas who shelled out the bux for a 2000 or up dak could afford to replace the whole rack and pinion steering system when we bent 1 tie rod. Thats right folks- dodge makes no replacement and most states(if not all) will not allow junkyards to re-sell used steering pieces. So, you can throw down that 1000-1200 bux for a whole new rack and p set up with labor charges. OR YOU CAN just order a set of 99,98, or 97 tie rods to replace what is bent. I asked dodge if they would fit and they said NO WAY. AND EVERY PERSON THAT TOLD ME THAT IS 1 of 3 things
1. ignorant to the specs of these rods
2. Misinformed by dodge
3. Joining in on this massive, expensive lie that dodge is telling.

and i refuse to believe that this is just a dodge issue. all of these manufacturers wanna smile in our face and sell us 1200 dollar solutions to 50 dollar problems.

TONY- my mechanic is an AWESOME guy. I ordered the 99 inner rods and they were a match. 50,000 miles later- no problems. However, i would recommend doin this quick- you will begin to hear a SCREECH in the operation of your power steering pump(this is from havin to cut the wheel to your left to keep the truck out of the ditch on the right). the pump has to run all the time when you do this and it will burn out after 15-25K miles like this. keep a close eye on that PS fluid, keep those tires rotated weekly and you can drive it like that for 3-4 weeks or 10K. the pop is somethin i'd be afraid to comment on- dodge may wanna charge you for 2 new neons to change a windshield wiper motor...............at this point... n e thing is possible

still gonna be ridin that I40/65 slab with the wbeel cocked to the left, burnin up those choke ya momma low pros, the ones holdin on tight to the 18" budniks- yeah thats me that just blew by ya- ridin dirty

Advance auto has tie-rods for 2000 daks (2 wheel, not sure about 4wd) 41.29 each. I bent mine running over a possum.
