when i want to melt my tires (which is a lot, cuz i hate these toyos) i push the brake in, using a little extra pressure. then i ease onto the gas until im at about 2000 rpm (maybe less, maybe more on different models), then ease off the brake. depending on if you want to spin your tires for a block, or just sit still and smoke em, use different pressure on the brake, and add more throttle. i think that is by definition, power braking, and/or brake torqueing, but im not positive :)

have fun, but remember why your tires are bald every 10000 miles!!

Brake torquing is pressing on the gas and the clutch, but not spinning the wheels, to get the engine on the cam and the converter upto stall. A little less brake pressure and a brake torque can turn into a burnout :)

Manuals have a bit more involved procedure that involves a little bit of dancing.

Yeah it's a bit of dancing with the clutch and trying to do a "brake stand" or whatever you want to call it. With a 318 stick who needs to use the break?? I don't and my tires tend to smoke nicely through 3rd and if i'm quick enough 4th... not too good for the tranny though...

is there any kind of shutoff on dakotas? i'm no pro at brake stands, so maybe i'm just not doing it right. but i tried twice with my 01 rc 287 5 speed 3.92 LSD, and i got them smoking pretty quick, but then it died right out. i tried again and it did the same. i can't remember any rpms, i wasn't watching them. so maybe i just need a little more practice.

What i do with mine is drop it inot first and hold it there while watching th tach and peg it at wbout 2500-3000rpm while holding the break and fethering the pettle. I have gone into third andcould have gone into 4th but decided to save the tires and trans just a little. lol I figure thats pretty good for being and Auto with a sure grip
