Okay I finally got my H.O. cams installed, after reading all the favorable posts I just couldn't bare to pass it up. My initial response is that it feels a little torquier but the most noticeable difference is how smooth the whole drivetrain feels now. The power curve feels much flatter and more linear, wheareas before when I would punch it the real power didn't really kick in until aboout 2.5 2.75 rpms it now kicks in just under 2 rpms, it's great. I got a few questions I was hoping someone could answer
1) is it true after a couple hundred miles the computer will adjust and there will be even more power?
2) do I need to take it easy for a few miles to "break in" the new cams?
3) Should I change the oil now or soon or just follow the regular schedule?

P.S. I have 2002 quadcab with 11,000 miles on it and the 45fre

First, Yes your truck will take about 200miles to adjust to the new breathing style,,not terribly noticable very slow change
second, I dont know about breaking in but why chance it hotrod, take it easy for a couple hundred, you know that wont hurt anything!
third, change oil on scheduel it would be a waste otherwise. now a question for you,,did you opt for the HO intake plenum? and if not,,why? and did you do the job yourself?

Thanks for the quick reply Jimi. To answer your questions...no I paid to have them installed (a pretty penny too but oh well), I have no mechanical ability let alone an internal engine modification. I opted against the H.O. intake for several reasons. For starters I have a quadcab with a shell on it making it very heavy by dakota standards and after doing much research it appears you gain more torque from the cams alone than in combination with the intake. Furthermore, I don't race seriously (maybe that's obvious by having a quadcab w/ a shell)but just like to punch it every now and then and thus I feel low end torque is more suited to what I wanted compared to the higher rpm power gained with the intake. Finally, it appears the intake only provides more power than the cams alone at 5,000+ rpms which I rarely see.

Great, I hope its what you wanted! I have both coming and I am reasoning if its a good combo on a Jeep, it should be a good combo in my 4x4, I am hoping its stronger across the board,,,time will tell,,as might a few readers of this thread!
