Are the high flow cats worth it? Some say yes, some say no... what do you guys think? I just called the muffler shop by my place and got a lecture when I asked for a price on removing the main cat! Then I asked about getting it setup with flanges so that I could switch between the cat and a straight pipe whenever and he said that the labour alone would be close to $300 Canadian! Does that sound right?

High flow cats make a big difference. They'll flow nearly as much as a straight pipe and still keep you legal. I just got a 3" Carsound for $68, shipped.

eBay. A guy named Jeff Hawkins who owns a muffler shop in Tennessee. He sells directly but his best pricing is usually on eBay. Do a search of items for sale by the following seller "jehovah-nissi". He's got 2 1/2" Carsound cats with a buy it now price of $48, $12 shipping. 3" cats are $5 more. I did a group buy with him last summer. He's super reliable and you just can't touch his prices anywhere.

are the stock 4.7 pipes 2.5 inches? if i have a 2001 4.7 with no pre-cats i would just need a 2.5 in/out cat right? What is the w/air or without air option?

Cool, thanks man, since I won't buy anything from Speedtweaks, was wondering where else I could one!

What u runnin for exhaust? stock with the new cat in place? On the wives truck, just swapped stock muffler for a glasspack, sounds ok, but not sure if I want to go with 2.5" dual out back from one 50 series flowmaster or 3" single at stock exit point. I think the factory is 3", at least the tailpipe is anyway which looks to be stainless steel to me.

My '02 has an MBRP Super Single catback. I'm going to swap the 2 1/2" Carsound on my '95 over to my '02.

My '95 is getting a 408. That's what the 3" Carsound is for. Mopar headers and then 3" all the way back, high flow cat, and Flowmaster 40 muffler.

I like it loud. A V8 should sound like it has balls.

I have a 2002 cc 4.7. Just replaced the stock muffler & tailpipe with a flowmaster 40 series
2 1/2 single in and 2 1/2 single out, sounds real good. Not ear bleedin' can still talk in cab. When you let it go through all the shifts it does sound great. Right at 2000 rpm it has quite a throaty sound.

K&N drop in, Flowmaster 40,fully synthetic diffs, Mobil 1 5w30

Damn it and I payed $90 bucks for my carsound 2.5". Oh well. Either way I think it was a good investment. That combined with the magnaflow 2.5" in/out #14256 made for a perfect combination.

I remember reading a post saying dodge uses high flow cats to begin with and there is no real need to replace it in a newer vehicle, any thoughts?

I've had high flow cats on a 2000 Ram and on my 1995 Dakota. In both cases, I noticed a marked improvement in sound and power.
