I would think it would be obnoxioussusiuesse (sp?) sounding,,, a little too loud for my taste.

I run a a Flow. 40 series,,dual out, dumped straight down. That's pretty loud,,you can hear me coming from a ways off,,,but it's got a really health growl to it. I've gotten nothing but compliments on it.

Don't get the glasspacks if you plan to keep the truck. They don't last. Flowmaster's are guaranteed. Also, as the glasspacks break down, the truck keeps getting louder & louder. Just had a Flowmaster Delta 40 put on my truck & it sounds great. Only cost me about $60 more than the glasspack. But if you are a redneck and want it to be loud, the glasspack should be fine. jk

I haven't heard anything other than stock on the 4.7 engine. I am interested to hear one, let us know how you like this setup.

I did hear a RT with dual exhaust on the highway and it was pretty loud. Im thinking about replacing my muffler with a louder one and keeping the same tubes in place.

I am not a huge fan of duals straight out the back like you mentioned, but that is just my opinion and a few others aparently. Is your spare tire going to be in the way?

you want loud? here you go...

3" single in/out dynomax ultraflow race welded
muffler, dumped before the axle with 3" pipe
catback.

beleive me, it is so obnoxiously loud, but at
WOT, sounds soooo good. cruisin speed it
has a loud rumble that rattles your head, and
the entire cab...good luck with the glasspacks,
and for that matter flowmasters, they both
suck, and neither of them will last. dynomax
or magnaflow offer lifetime warranty's.

Don't put the glass packs, you'll sound like a highschool kid that can't aford real power and wants to make people think he has something under the hood. Anyone that knows motors will know what's up and you won't impress anyone.

I would tend to agree with the masses on this one. I have a 4.7L with a Flowmaster original 40 and it sounds ten times better than any of the glass packs that I have heard. It might not be as loud, but it doesn't sound cheap. Think of it like you would if you were buying subs. Do you want something that is going to sound like crap so everyone knows you wasted your money?

monty - a healthy growl like you get from the Flowmasters' sounds much better than the "popping" you get from the glasspacks.

Go with Flowmaster or Magnaflow, you won't be disappointed. Good sound, good performance, and a warranty. Just my .02 cents. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
