well here is an update:the prototype for the cold air intake for the 4.7L is almost complete.
it is the same routing as my current one, with a straight shot into the fenderwell.the opening in the fender is sealed, and topped off with a k & n
filter.it is all 3" mandrel bent, with the end 3.5" to accomodate the filter.i am debating using a k/n filter wrap for protection against water, and extra contaminates.have the iat relocated also.will post pics as soon as painted.
i ordered a g-tech to help give a little idea
of the gains it produces.it is a on piece direct bolt on unit.

fyi,
stephen

No drilling required? Why not make the whole unit 3.5"? Can't wait to see pics by the way.

Hey CThomp what's goin on?
My guess is that the extra 1/2" is cutting it to close to the a/c lines. But I to agree, if possible can this be made any bigger (3.5 -4")

Thanks Stephen, and keep up the good work

Just enjoying a little bit of cooler weather down here. Nice break from the bugs and hot humidity. You?

Yeah from the current pics the extra .5" might be to much. But it seems as though 3.5" and 4" is becoming kind of the standard as to accomodate all TB sizes.

Definitely keep on it though. Glad to see someone is getting creative.

I hated the heat up until late July/ early August, when I bought my boat haha. I used to like the cold weather, but I lost 60lbs over the spring, and now there's not as much insulation to keep me warm hahaha, but I'm in MI I just have to deal with it, but it is fun to flip the 4x4 switch when it snows hehe.

Now that I think about it... 3.0" is total OD, well if it was 3.5" that would mean it's only 1/4" closer to the a/c lines etc, it might work who knows

Yeah I've seen snow twice in my life...and i'm 25!!! I like cold weather but have no desire to drive on iced roads. But i've thought about moving to the carolinas. Florida's gettin ridiculously overcrowded. To many people that refuse to learn english and the retiree population is soon to explode when all the baby boomers retire to all the golf course communities going up around here. alright enough bitching.

the id is 3".it will be flared on each end to 3.5"to accomodate the filter, and get closer to tb size.i wanted to bolt it at the fender where the filter goes thru.but might use the brace welded to the inlet to hold it into position,so no one would have to drill.i will be finished in the next week, pics and all.
