Ok the one fix involving the resistor I have not tried, nor do I want to with about 3 years left of factory warranty. Besides I said that I programmed my pc to set the rev limiter at 500 plus the factory settings, which lets it float to about 6 grand. At that point the engine sounds like its to tight and I dont want to see what would happen if I let it hit my newly set rev limiter which apparently is about 6K which is really higher than just 500 rpm over factory that the hypertech was supposed to add but oh well, that is another debate. All sensors have been replaced, tv cable has been adjusted several times, cats have been checked, systems have been checked and nothing has seemed to fix this. Ok if this is the valve body and you have heard of dodge replacing this then tell me how I get them to replace it. They have said the engineers at dodge hotline says this is normal in this vehicle and they said to come pick it up. See I cant tell them about what I know with the 6000 rpm not switching, all I can say is that it hits the rev limiter (I reload the stock programming when i go into the dealer). I have had this truck in the shop for a total of about 4 weeks over this issue (several trips). Please just tell me how I get the morons to replace this faulty valve body that simply does not shift correctly under hard throttle. Dave do you work at a dealer? Happen to be anywhere near louisville, Kentucky? I am going to get this problem fixed one way or another. Thanks.

Well, now we have a different animal. I was not aware there was a change in tuning. My mistake. Does the truck hit rev limiter with stock programming? If its fine stock and then hits the limiter with the added tuning, I'd say your tuning is at fault.

No...The whole reason I bought the power programmer was to adjust the supposed 100 more rpm that the stupid thing needed to shift without hitting the rev limiter. So yes absolutely with the stock programming it hits the rev limiter 100% of the time under hard throttle. I have, with stock programming reloaded, shown the local dodge service guys that it hits the stock rev limiter with ease and they acted like that it was a problem indeed and they would get it fixed. But, after talking to the dodge engineers, or whoever at corp they acted differently and said they couldnt fix this and that it is a "normal characteristic". I think that is bull. You seem to know that dodge has in the past replaced the valve body for this problem. All I want is to have a working valve body that shifts. I think the part is bad and they should fix it. If you know of a dealer that has fixed this then maybe I can reference my local dealer to give them a call. My local dealer wanted to replace the valve body, but they claimed that dodge wouldnt let them without proof of a similar situation or another 2003 r/t to test and compare to. I think they are mitigating expense just like always. Any transmission that hits a rev limiter while in drive is not working properly in my opinion. I appreciate your help and sorry if my previous post lead you to believe that this a programmer issue...Thanks again.

No problem man, I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page. In my opinion it needs a valve body. I've replaced several valve bodies (mainly 46re trans.) for this exact problem. Why Chrysler won't replace it I don't know. This is a documented problem as I (and a few others) talked to Chrysler more than once on this issue. I don't work in the dealership anymore but maybe a buddy of mine could help.

Contact Monroeville Dodge; 412-856-1700
if you go to their website you may find an 800 phone number. www.monroevilledodge.com

Ask for Dave (head technician), if you need proof of this issue happening and being repaired, he can most likely give it to you. Good luck!

I have a 2001 R/T and I am experinecing the same problem in my truck. I also took my truck to the dodge dealership and said the exact same thing they told you. I am a technician at a ford dealership and have a friend that works at a diffrent dodge dealership than the one i took my truck to, after arguing with the dealership that told me it was a normal characteristic, I finaly took it to my friend and looked the trans over and found the electronic shift solenoid to be a fault. My trans was also not producing enough line pressure to shift properly. Dodge is very aware of this problem, I dont understand why they dont post a recall for those solenoids. The only advise i can tell you is to take your truck to another dealership and have them run pids on the shift solenoid to see how many volts the solenoid is putting out. The 46re trans is and elctronic shift trans that is controlled by the pcm to tell the trans when to shift.I strongly dont advise to use the programmer until the trans problem is solved, you run a high risk of blowing the motor. If your local delaerships wont fix that problem post another message and i will tell you another solution to get them to replace it.

(2001 dakota 5.9) On my way to work this morning, my engine light came on and it would not shift out of first. I checked the codes with the built in reader and it said 1757, 1762, 1596. I turned around and dropped it off at a local mechanic. I am waiting for a call with what they find. What should I expect? I heard there was a law suit pending about these transmissions, has anyone heard anything? Thanks

I have a 99 sport that won’t shift out of first. Previous owners
replaced tranny and same problem. What all do I need to
replace? Governer solenoid and speed sensors? Anything
else to try? Can not afford nor trust the local mechanics here
unfortunately
