Subject: Towing with an R/T

I used to have a Dakota 4x4 and loved it. I am looking to purchase an R/T, and was wondering why the towing capacity is so low? Is it simply a suspension thing? Can it be beefed up to tow say,4000 lbs? Thanks in advance.

The towing capacity is low because of the lowered springs, They had a problem with a very low number of trucks that were driven all the time with 6000# + trailers and cracked the frame where the bump stops are, so dodge lowered the tow rating. If you only tow a trailer that big once in a while it should not be a problem , but if you tow 7000 lbs all the time you should change the rear springs.
