My personal experience with a 2000 Dodge
Dakota has been great. I would recommend a
Dodge Dakota to anyone. I have a 2000
Dodge Dakota v6 Magnum that is still going
strong without replacing anything major.
My truck has 213,000 miles on it and runs
like it's brand new. Now it's ugly it
needs a paint job but it is never left me
stranded. The key to it is make sure to
maintain. Oil change, tire rotation front
end alignment,and always check your
fluids. And you'll have a truck that runs
forever.

That is an age old question, with two clear answers:

It depends more on maintanence history than on actual miles
(under 100k, that is). “Proveable, traceable repair receipts”,
parts, etc) and good previous owner(s).

It depends upon EXACT year, model, make, and optional
equipment, based upon national owner complaints, recalls,
and other easy-to-research data. Some model
years/transmissions/engines/etc are just really really bad.

Regarding the Dakota models, the last-gen V-8 models with
302 hp 4.7 L In awd/4wd versions are reliable, afffordable,
and suffer fewer complaints. Many can be found with low
miles, in either 4 door or ext cab versions.

Drivetrain isn’t really a mileage concern as long as you do the
basics as in maintenance. You’ll be surprised what
preventative maintenance on the body and frame will do cause
that’s where your gonna have the issues. Undercoat every few
years bediner on the bumpers and half way up the bottom and
I mean pull the fender flares before doing it then put them
back on. A religious undercarriage spray down with Oil and
you’ll cut out most issues that scrap the truck. The engine
swaps an tranny swaps are you least concern frames rusted
out and front ends are goin kill you, don’t forget them rear leafs
love busting lose an through the bed. 269000 on my 5.9 an my
biggest engine flaw was the damn air conditioner just bypass it
an toll the windows down. My 2004 4.7 runs great common
since flush engine put a ATF 4 synthetic Trans fluid in a 100
miles before a change and your golden just fllipped 450000 it’s
not the 5.9 power by FAR but it takes a beating
