I have a 1992 Dakota v8 4x4 it stalls on a daily basis with no ryme or reason. Sometimes while driving at speeds of 100km or just sitting at a stop light. Other times it will restart up on its own without doing anything if im going fast enough. We have tried a lot of things to fix it but no luck. Can anyone help?

Have you cleaned your Throttle Body. I have a 92 dakota that has like 150000 miles on it and it was doing the same thing. To clean it just remove all your cables, then undo the 4 four bolts, and it should pull right off. Becareful of the gasket, you can reuse it. To clean it i used carb cleaner, that works the best!

Yes we had the throttle body cleaned in the shop and also an engine vac. We also removed the gas tank to check for sediment, changed some feul lines ,air filter, sensor in the distributor, had a scaning tool to locate any trouble, and changed thermostat and coolant. no luck . But any other ideas would be greatly appreciated thank you.

If that doesn't work look into the ignition switch you may have a bad connection there somewhere, I know it sounds crazy but I have experienced it before with another vehicle.

There is also a spot under your power management center where 3 wires meet and have a tendancy to corrode (SP?) and cause the problem you are explaining.

Also check your pcm while the engine is running press on it, try to move it, if it has a cracked board it may cause your problem..

I was doing a search on www.moparmusclemagazine.com When they I found an article of the list of common problems. One you might want to check out is:

"Rough engine idle, low-speed stalling, or roughness when accelerating with 92-94 models can be traced back to a bad idle control motor. This problem tends to be worse in warmer weather."
