JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS DONE AN ENGINE SWAP IN THEIR DAKOTA'S. I AM DOING A SWAP TO MINE RIGHT NOW AND IT AINT NO FUN. I GOT A 92 DAKOTA THAT IM PUTTIN A 72 318 IN IT. MAKIN IT A LIL SMALL BOCK SCREAMER.

I've swapped the engine in my truck. I have a 98 Dodge Dakota with a KRC built 360. The swap went through good, and the 360 is to strong for my rearend. It has a 3.55 gear, but its not posi. So if anybody has information on a 3.92 limited slip rearend let me know.

What about a 318 to 360 up grade. Any one heard of anyone doing this. I got a 318 and do alot of towing and could use some more torque.

I am in the process of installing a 528 Hemi crate motor in a 94 Dak 4X4. Never had so much fun in my life. Should have done a 2X4. Dana axle in the rear, 727 torqueflite out of a 440 Ramcharger, Ramcharger front axle, Custom headers, Move the power brake booster over 3", Put the small diameter brake booster in place of the stock one, Tie the frame together with a full roll cage,you will need it to keep the frame from twisting from the torque and if you pull a hole shot in 4WD there is no guarentee you will be going straight when you land. Been there done that. Built a 4X4 Ford Ranger with a 460. Very exiting ride. On the Hemi Dak the cost breaks down to: $13250 Engine,$2000 Headers (stainless steel),$1500 Trans, $1600 Rear axle, $1500 Brakes, $250 Radiator,$1200 Suspension rework. Then add other stuff like tires,rims,the rest of the exhaust,carb,1/2" fuel lines from the tank to engine,ignition system and a toilet paper dispenser for the instrument panel. I put a toilet for the passenger seat in the Ranger.It saved a lot of money in upolstery cleaner.HA HA If you really want to do it I can send some pics and info that may help. Dan P.S. I would like to see some pictures and information. There is a conversion kit directly from Mopar right? I also assume that when you do this you have to give up on passing emissions? horbedarn@hotmail.com

Stony22 my truck came with a 5spd NV-3500. The only thing I had to do was get a flywheel balanced for the 360. I used the oil pan off the 318. The engine was built by KRC Performance and they balanced the flywheel for the motor. Also, Stony you might want to talk to Marty at KRC, they are putting a Tremec 5spd in one Dakota and a 6spd Borg Warner in another one.
