i have had my 2002 4.7 now since june, and its got 12k on it, had two miles on it when i bought it, but anyway, its just started this since it has been cold so i am guessing thats the culprit, but sometimes when it shifts up its kind of a rough shift like it slacks off for a second then slams into gear nothing drastic just a little jerk then sometimes when it shifts down it just gives a little kick anyone know what this is?

What speeds and RPM range does this happen? Is your truck a 2WD or 4WD? Is it an auto or stick? I'm guessing it's an auto, but I need more info that just a question.

happens low rpms/lowspeed only, as in 10-15mph at like 1250 and under, yes its an auto, and its 4wd, its not really a hard jerk or anything, i mean you can feel it but it dosnt jerk my body

Sounds pretty harmless to me. My Jeep does this as well with the 4.7 and sutomatic.

Maybe it's just the torque converter/lockup.

yea i was thinking it was just the torque converter but i wasnt postive, it dosnt seem to be anything major as it dosnt happen alot, it really only happens when i come off the gas and go back on it really lightly before the rpm's drop down, so no worries

I have a '93 dakota with 192,000 miles and it did the same thing. I changed the u-joints and it seemed to help the problem.
