Just wondering if anyone has the Jacobs Ignition. Am considering the mileage master for my '99 4x4 w/318 and auto. See lots of people running the MSD. Jacobs claims good mileage and a bit more power. Am really more interested in increased mpg than performance. Also, since it's fairly expensive, where can I get a good deal?

I had the Jacobs Pro Street Ultra Team on my R/T. Worked good when it worked. I had a used unit and it stopped working after about 6 months. But it increased my mileage by about 1mpg and I saw a .1 second reduction in my 1/4 times when I had it on. I did back to back runs at the track, one with the stock ignition, followed by a hot lap and Jacobs hooked up and dropped 1/10 in my times with the Jacobs.

Money better spend elsewhere IMO. PITA system burned through plugs and I was either replacing or regapping every 6-8K even with Platinum tipped which they recommend against but is the only way to not be replacing plugs every 3-4K. Gave me a little better idle on my 3.9, but no increase in mpg like they state despite trying every possible spark plug gap.

I installed a Pro Street Ultra on my 97 5.2 and was disappointed. It actually idled a little rougher. No SOTP power difference and no mileage improvement at all. Sold it on E-bay to a guy in Canada with a MR2 and stuck with the MSD 8.5 wires and Accel coil.

Thanks for input. Now I'm thinking of just getting MSD wires and spending difference on an exhaust upgrade.
