I know what you mean by sentimental. I have not had my R/T very long. The first time I started it I got chills. It doesn't "SING" like the old ones, but it sounds very simular to my 1989 slant six when it's turning over. It brings back memories. The 4.7L sounds like a Ford starting.

Now I have to think about all the fun I could have had swapping out heads on my magnum with the old TA heads. Another thing I was faced with on those heads were the valve seats. When I started weighing the cost of all the mods and then not knowing for sure that any of it would work, I just gave up.

Got one other issue. With all the Hemi fever building now, I wanna ditch the 360 Magnum and slap an old 354 Hemi in my Dak. Then I could run the "Yeah, It's got a Hemi," bumper sticker!

Correction.......1987 slant/six (D100). My 89 was a 318.

If Dodge never puts a hemi in the Dakota you can bet somebody will. How hard could it be to swap a Hemi out of the new Durango into the (yet to be seen) new Dakota. I bet the wiring harness for the engine compartment is nearly a direct swap.

I imagine it'll be close copy in the wiring. Rodders are already putting the new Hemi in other rides. Two companies in Arizona are putting wiring harnesses and swap kits together. It sure is causing a stir. The bigger yet-to-be-released Hemi is really gonna kick things up a notch.

I got a question

To run the magnum smpi setup you said to use the computer out of a 92-95 dakota right??? now do I also take all of the wiring harness that goes with it??? If yes how hard is it to wire up to the wiring that is in the truck, is it a plug and play setup when it comes to connecting the cavaties together or do I have to move wires around

i used a harness from a 2000 ram, took the whole harness and dropped it into the shelby.the old harness i removed.the new harness only has to get power, and a few other hookups.its really not as hard as one might think, but all the wiring gets pretty intimidating.i know!

I own #233 White and you can use regular LA heads. Only Magnums oil through the pushrod.
