I changed out to the 180 this summer (august). It runs at 180 normally but without the viscous fan it gets warm when sitting still (surprise huh?) and over the summer it still ran in the 210 - 220 range with or without the A/C and the viscous fan...

I didn't flush out the system but I did drain it and replace all the coolant with a 50/50 mix (I live in CT). I even put some of the water wetter stuff in there and noticed very limited gains with it....

Doesn't make sense. I've idled in my driveway, 90+ degrees out, A/C on, never over 184 according to the scantool. Consider these:

1) Did you get all the air out?
2) Do you actually have the hybrid fan?
3) Is the fan running? (I've heard of a lot of fried relays).
4) Did you install the stat correctly with the "pellet" towards the radiator?

Gibson Dual Sport, AirForce One air intake, Jet II, Jet TBS, 180 stat, IAT, TPS, no viscous fan, Lakewood traction bars, "Wilson" antenna ball...when are we gonna see some real parts??!!

Yes I ran the engine just as it says in the FSM. I did not use the bleed screw as the FSM did not mention this.

2) Do you actually have the hybrid fan?

You mean both the electric and the viscous. Yes the truck came with both.

3) Is the fan running? (I've heard of a lot of fried relays).

Yes, I can hear it turn on and start moving air about 3-5 seconds after I turn on the A/C.

4) Did you install the stat correctly with the "pellet" towards the radiator?

Yep, same as the factory t-stat. Right now it is cold (40's during the day) and as long as I am moving the temp gage stays right where it should. If I sit and idle with the A/C off it gets warmer (of course). That is why I want to lower the turn on temp of the factory electric fan.

Chris why don't you put a switch in the circuit between the sensor and your fan motor. something you can turn on the fan with from inside the cab. you may even be able to bypass the normal circuit and go with a normaly hot switch set up. i am going to remove my clutch fan. I think is stupid to have 2 fans. i have seen the electric fan come on and cycle without using the ac system at the time. it is big enough, so i wonder why they put the clutch fan in the first place.
