Subject: 4.7L and O2 Simulators!
IP: Logged

Message:
Guys after the dissapointing dyno of 199.1HP Im looking to make some quick hp and Dyno it again. I see they make these things called O2 Simmulators, would these work on my truck? I have two o2 Sensors up front in my pre cats, and one single o2 sensor just before my last cat and thats it.(3 sensors total) Has anyone tried these simulators with the dual o2's up front and single o2 in the rear? Im wanting to take and delete the two pre cats and the third cat and have an exhaust shop fab up me some 2 and 1/4 inch y-pipes and have them dump into my current Flowmaster 3'' cat back! Would this free up some HP you think?

Dunno, but you should change your sig from SOHC to DOHC unless you're only running one bank of cylinders, LOL. 4.7's have two cams, as I'm sure you are aware of this. No flame just trying to help, good luck with your mods.

I thought DOHC implied 4 valves per cylinder?

Still a SOHC though because there is only one cam above each head 2 total. Toyotas 4.7 is a DOCH with 2 cams above each head 4 total.:)

It would free up some HP and some revability. How much I can't say.

My apologies, I assumed DOHC stood for 'dual overhead cam', never worked on one, and you know what happens when you assume, this time it was just me however, ha-ha.

Glossary: Dual Overhead Cam

Also called Double Overhead Cam (DOHC). This is an engine with a pair of cam shafts in the top of the cylinder head. The first operates the intake valves, while the other operates the exhaust valves.

Ha-ha, as an afterthought, I'd better change my sig, it seems that I have lost what little that I had.

Yes Im 100% sure about it being there. When I installed my cat back system I really took a good look at the exhaust system to see what other improvements could be made. Some guys say that they have one after the last cat but mine has two directly in the middle of each of the two precats and just before the third cat!
