Last week my engine light came on, it was codes p0442 and p0455 (small leak and large leak in evaporative emmisions system), then sunday the light came on AGAIN, and I haven't had it checked but I'm sure it'll be the same things again, that'll make the 4th time since the beginning of august that they came on for the same reason, evap. purge system leak. So obviously something isn't right. What parts are included in the evaporative purge system that could be the problem? It can't possibly be the gas cap every time..

Carbon cansister, evap purge solenoid, Lines going to the tank, lines to the solenoid and leak detection pump. Try and find a place that actualy knows how to use that leak detection smoke machine properly. It is really quite easy to fix with the proper tools.

Does anyone know any good shops in/around houston that could help me? In my previous car I just went to the dealer, but now I pay for everything myself and can't afford them :(

Unfortuantely I would be surprized if a independent shop would have the necessary tools to do the job right.

i just had a used motor which has 19000 miles on it, well about 2 weeks after i got it back the engine light came on, and then for some reason my gas mileage went straight down, right the heck down, now i know i have an evap problem but dont know where to begin on it, and will the gas mileage be affected with this problem to?
