Someone WILL corect me on this if I am wrong, but in our trucks I believe the mass air flow sensor is called the IAT sensor. It is in the second intake runner in the intake manifold on the passenger side. If you mover the sensor to a cooler spot (after the air cleaner) and plug the hole you should see an increase in proformance due to a more true temp reading of the air coming in.

The IAT only gives you the air temp. I believe that the 5.2 uses a speed-density, so it uses that and the IAT to estimate the air volume. If there was a way to convert it to a mass air, then the computer would know exactly how much air there is.
Side note- The 4.7 dak has a plastic or composit intake? what are the chances of there being a Carbon fiber "beer keg"? hey if you want to keep the air cooler it would do it.

Cool idea about the carbon fiber intake manifold. I have only seen carbon fiber layed by hand in flate sheets, never curves. The curver part have always been done by big cool CNC machinery. Who knows, maybe try and find someone on the board to root around in dodge's dumpsters to get the sand casting patterns and cast it in plastic. I guess it's like anything, the possibilities are endless if you have the cash and someone who knows how to make it happen.

I have seen a tunnel ram made out of carbon fiber it cost $3500. Don't think it woiuld be worth it for a stock type lay out. It would probably cost more. Nobody makes an aftermarket mass air setup thier all speed density systems(accel, f.a.s.t., motec, t.e.c.)

I guess I just need to get an old intake and see if I can duplicate it in Carbon fiber. As for the Mass air. I heard that Kenne Bel had a mass air in their Supercharger kit. Do they sell just the MAss air? or should I just forget about the whole thing and just put their super on my truck? It could end up being cheaper than a Carbon fiber intake and be a lot more fun, Just bolt it in and let them do the RnD.

It's something that can be done, but would require the following:

Non-Linear (MAF) to Linear (MAP) conversion algorithm. We tried a few years ago with a small "box" but couldn't get the formula right. Kenne Bell uses the MAF in conjunction with the MAP on the 4.7L but they also use their propietary "optimizer" with it. They won't sell it seperately from the S/C kit as it's tuned solely for the S/C kit as a whole.
