I went with a Flowmaster One chamber race muffler its a small little thing but increased my top end and sounds great. I also dumped it right out the muffler.

I just put a MBRP split dual cat-back on my 2000 4x4 RC 4.7 5spd with 3.92 LS. the only other mod Ive done so far is K&N GenII FIPK I torched off the old exhaust and I put it on in about 3 hours, and unlike the Gibson split duals, I was able to keep my 31" spare in place. I gained a noticable amount more power throughout the powerband and the sound is mean. It seemed like a quality kit and I dealt with a guy by the name of Eric that bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. Go with MBRP, you will be glad you did.

magnaflow all the way. took off a 40 series delta flow(crappy sound and performance). magnaflow has a nice deep and clean sound. not as loud as the flow master and absolutely no drone. and the truck actually seems to pull better.

Go with the MBRP, it is the best performance muffler for a Dodge Dakota hands down! Don't go with flow master or any other those other wannabies. Get something that will have people heads turning and increases your performance and sound. MBRP all the way... i'm getting it in a month or 2. *drools*

Go with free flow that you like the sound of and can afford. The difference in really high priced cat back systems and a good free flowing performance muffler on stock size pipes is negligible. Especially for limited aftermarket performance add ons.

Any body know the model number for either a Gibson or Magnaflow stainless steel muffler that is a direct fit for the 2000 4.7L?

If you want a loud but good souning muffler go with spintech. I had a set of flows on a mustang and hated them, swaped them for spintech and got a much better sound and a performance increase as well.

On my truck I tried a spintech but it was too loud for what I use the truck for, I couldnt deal with ALWAYS hearing the exhaust. I swaped it out for the gibson 3" single and it really souds good now, the gibson system is a very nice fit and easy to install.

what magnaflow muffler would people recommend? i like the round series but i am not sure what size to get. they have 4", 6", and 7" diameter mufflers available in different lengths. would the shortest 4" be the loudest? also what are the drawbacks of having no muffler at all?
