I was just sitting here, reading posts and reflecting on the races I have been in in my "out of shape" 93 4x4 with 5.2 and auto tranny. I know I dont own a race car and most all of the races I have been in, I have been beat. Most are justified, but there is one that keeps haunting me. Its my freinds 99 Nissan Frontier Dessert Runner(2wd) V6 with manual tranny. I knwo he has me beat on the whole power to weight ration and his motor is more efficient with less miles and better tuned. Its stock by the way. He beats me every time and I cant get over it. I have a friggin V8 man, and I catch hell for it every time I lose! I have beat a couple V6 too, but its that dang nissan. Oh yeah, the latest defeat was my freinds 97 4x4 Ram reg cab with 360, K&N, exhaust, and auto tranny. Hey, atleast it was a mopar.

Those tin cans you call Nissan's are pretty quick little buggers. But toss an 1/8th yard of bark in the bed (maximum capacity :-)) and it'll sit there burnin' its motor while you drive off with your full yard.

Hey Andrew, don't feel bad on the Ram beating you, he's got you outpowered. But, the Nissan! Oh man, I would definitely be having night mares of that race. There should be a power mod in your future, so you can go mess him up! I can't stand those pos trucks. I mean, how much plastic can you put on a vehicle? Ask Pontiac I guess. I love how their "supercharger" 6 only makes 210 Hp, how lame is that. Anyone who buys those trucks for the "look" should have their head examined. Dakota's rule!

my brother-in-laws s-runner tacoma stays
about even w/ my 01/4.7, and I have a few
mods. all his has is exhaust and TB.
Japanese trucks are geared real well, its
almost like driving a car. Try racing a nissan
4x4 auto v6, you'll probably have better results.

Dunno yet. Just got the TB & the muffler on yesterday, gonna enlist my sis's help with a stopwatch (I think she's up to the task, she trained race horses in Pompano!). I'd be interested to know myself.

lilblackdak, Gen2 and Gen3 got the same motors, with the exception of the 4.7.
so they look boxy, but does that mean they suck?
dissing the Gen2 is like dissing youre older brother.

I don't think they suck at all - I've seen a couple of really nice ones. My mechanic has a convertible gen II with gorgeous chrome mags . Oh yeah - and we outweigh them by a fair bit.

Lesley - your mechanic has a convertible Gen II? Are you sure its not a Gen I? If its a II, and if its a factory convertible, there were only 8 of them made, and we Gen I'ers have been trying to find them! Send him my way if its a factory conv.

Hmm, I'll ask, maybe it is a Gen I. Either way, it is really cooooooool!!!! It's white with a burgundy roof, all the badging is gold.
