Subject: 2300 stall converter?
IP: Logged

Message:

Has anyone used a performance converter in the a518? I know that a 2300 stall speed would put me in the right powerband. I see many other performance vehicles using aftermarket converters to improve performance, but it doesnt seem to be that popular with daks.

I think it's a good mod and quite a few people do have it. It just doesn't add HP which seems to be the main focus people have. It will improve times and is not that noticible in daily driving, I drove a modified CC R/T with that converter and thought it was awesome.

I just completed a converter change on my A-518, and I must say that it was well worth it. I haven't had the chance to take it to the track yet, but from the way it acts on the street...OH BOY! I purchased the Mopar Converter from KRC, and for roughly $189 bucks, it was money well spent.

On "foot brake" stall it's around 2000-2100 RPM.

I have the mopar 2400 stall (2300 probably)

tried launching at 2100 rpm-- then 1200-1500 rpm

The 1500 rpm then nail it launch netted me a 1.904 with 100 shot-- but I can say that I saw 2600 rpm NA doing the same thing-- Works way better.

Install isn't that bad if you have a level driveway , jackstands , and a decent set if handtools. Just have to jack it up , put it on stands, drain and pull the trans , swap the converter- fill it up first , put it back together , fill the trans , drive it - it's about 8 hours worth of work if you do it in the driveway by yourself.
