Is anyone using the new Mopar Performance P/N P5007398 2 bbl MPI aluminum single-plane magnum intake manifold? This is not the M1 but is the new Mopar Performance intake manifold that is recommended for MPI installations using the factory throttle body, fuel rails and ECU on stock vehicles. This is the direct replacement for the beer keg intakes used on the fuel injected 1992-02 Mopar Magnum Engines?

Injection is nice, but i'd rather be blown.

Kota is right. This is the M1. I have it too, and like it for the fact of getting rid of the belly pan gasket problem. It really helps power above 4,000, but I did notice some low-end loss. I hope my 50mm tb that has been on backorder for 2 months will help restore some of the low-end.

Eric,
Actually Mopar Performance makes three 2 bbl MPI single-plane intake manifolds for the Magnum Engines according to the 2002 Mopar Performance Parts Catalog and online. Are you guys using the Mopar Performance P/N 5249816 2 bbl MPI single-plane intake manifold, the new P/N P5007398 2 bbl MPI single-plane intake manifold, or the new P/N 5007852 2 bbl MPI single-plane intake manifold? I have the P5007398 Manifold amd the P5007638 Installation Kit. I'll be installing it within a week or so. Did you have any problems with the install?

Eric and Troy,
I stand corrected! I just got off the phone with Mopar Tech Support and all the 2 bbl MPI single-plane intake manifolds I listed above are known as M1 Manifolds. Are you using an exhaust gasket or mounting your headers metal to metal. I'm getting conflicting advice.
Jim

Kota: Yes I have the map sensor run to the right side port on the intake. I had this same mod on my beer-keg as well. I did notice a low-end loss with the M1 install compared to the stock manifold. I wish I could get the stock low-end back, and keep the M1 mid-to-upper power. Oh well, wish in one hand, and crap in the other, and see which one gets full the fastest.

Jim: I am using a gasket between the heads and headers. No problems in over 2 years. The Kenne Bell headers are pricey but are really nice. No corrosion, no leaks, no problems. I love them. Nice sound and power improvement, too.

yeah, with headers you need a gasket. also, use some copper RTV where the collector meets teh Y-pipe

the M1 install is a sinch

What are some of the best intake manifolds for a 1992 Dodge Dakota with the 5.2L V8? I've heard the M1 is great. Are they're any others? I need something with BIG hp/torque.

If you're gonna run MPI, the M1 is all there is except for limited race applications. Edelbrock is now producing the Performer RPM Air Gap for carb applications.

sweeetempest: I have a 2000 R/T. it has: a M1 single plane intake, 1.7 roller rockers, MP headers , 3" highflow cat, 3" exhaust all the way to the back, 52mm throttle body, home brew cold air intake, accell 300+ ignition system 180 thermostat, cold plugs, 2400 stall converter and hypertech programmer. I live in southern Ontario Canada. We have standard emissions tests every 2 yrs (including sniffer) and my truck flies thru. As a matter of fact it has lower emissions now than it did when bone stock (the real credit goes to the ignition system). When finances permit, cam, heads and supercharger will follow.
