Has anyone used the Moroso crankcase evacuation system.I was wondering if it is ok for our Daks.It says for drag race use.My brother used it on his drag car and he said it got rid of the pressure in the bottom end and Dynoed an extra 20 H.P.It hooks into the valve covers and hoses run to pipe nipples welded into the collectors on the headers. Pros and cons on this system.

The only thing I would be concerned with would be the cat.

I was thinking the same thing, may be a good reason to drop my cat and get a box. I also was thinking it may not be friendly with the PCM. If it will work it would be cheap H.P. and put less stress on the motor.

You shouldn't need it, the existing PCV system does the same thing. Drag motors run huge clearances compared to a factory motor and have a lot more blowby that a conventional PCV system couldn't handle. I also agree about the cat.

A dry sump does two things. THe rapid evacuation creates a huge negatice pressure/vaccum and cause the rings to seal more the 4 times better then with out and it gets ride of oil drag on crank shaft. Nascar and F1 had to limit the size of pumps that were allowed because people kempt putting bigger and bigger pumps on to increase HP. You usualy mount the oil sump in the rear right hand courner of the frame and use a compination of stainless steel line and hydralic hose to reach up to oil galley return and oil feed. You will need a custom oil pan. Honda gained 50 HP a few years back just by redesigning the bottom end to evac quicker on their F1 engine.

He's not talking about a dry sump system:

"It hooks into the valve covers and hoses run to pipe nipples welded into the collectors on the headers."

Standard drag motor crankcase ventilation-useless on a street motor. A dry sump system doesn't send oil directly to the header collectors.

Used to have the moroso system on an old bracket car....Unless you've got a seriously rip snortin' engine, it's overkill. Won't hurt, but probably won't help either.
