Howdy,

I want to put a H.O. cam in my baby. Has anyone in California had their vehicle smogged with this modification present. If so, how'd it do?

Also, was most of the torque gain at the low-end? (hopefully).

What it do to gas mileage? And DON'T give me that, "if you wanted gas mileage you should have bought a Honda" bullsh*t! I just want to know what kind of gas mileage (plus or minus) and power numbers I'll get with this mod.

Cams alone.. my mileage went up...
Cams and intake... milage down slightly (may get better when pedal comes off the floor...

as for the emissions stuff it should pass... it is a factory option...

Thanks Chris,

One last question for Chris or anyone else. Is the intake required or can I get-away with just the cam? I've only had my Dak for about 6 weeks and I'm new to building power for this truck or any other vehicle less than 14 years old.
Ie., my last truck had a carburetor, only one catalytic convertor, no ABS, no power steering or any other power option, and an appetite for destruction.
My home, Chico Ca, is a college town that Playboy Magazine voted the #1 party school in the NATION on two separate occasions. My former truck was run into 3 different times and I wasn't at fault or even in the vehicle for that matter.

For the protection of myself and my Dak, I have moved to the outskirts of town away from the University. So far-so good.

Again,

Thanks and Mopar2ya

The Cams alone work great!!! I think that for everyday non-racing use this is actually the best mod. Here is what I noticed when I did each:

Cams & 180 thermostat:
Moved powerband down
Broadened powerband
WOW

Intake, Move IAT to intake tube, & bore 68mm TB:
powerband moved higher again, still much better than stock
more upper RPM power.

As far as price each was about $120 installed... I personally do not know If I would do the intake again... Probably but not sure if I got the same gains as with the cams.
