Has anyone got the 70mm F&B TB yet? I looking for an air intake to use with this particular throttle body. ie.., Z-tube & 70mm, Airaid & 70mm, 360 & 70mm. What combination works the best regarding performance and can still pass California emissions (C.A.R.B. OK Sticker a must)

Thanks

The Flometrics TB's (Fastman and APS included) are not CARB Certified (no EO#).

No EO # for any aftermarket TB... BUT... you have at least a 2000, so won't be smogged in CA. until 2004-5... Go with an F&B, keep your stocker, and swap it back to stock when you are required to get tested.

You might have problems with your PCM flash too... the new CA smog nazi are getting VERY strict on what comes out the tailpipe...

As far as the airbox-- Run your stock airhat 'lid', and go with a K&N (or K&N style) tube/filter off of the stock 'airhat'... The square box in the middle of the engine isn't the best looking, but works the best (has the correct porting on it to cancel out vibes generated by the intake). Volant is the only aftermarket filter setup that has this same 'porting' built it.

I have the 70mm F&Bs in stock ready to ship.

Thanks,

I have a 2000 auto, 3.92LSD so I was able to get a chip flash from Mike Leach. Now all I have to do is find an air-intake that can take full advantage of this outstanding (flash) modification. I think I'm going with the volant intake (expensive I know) with the large CARB approved sticker in plain sight on the box so maybe it will detract from the 68mm or 70mm trottle body. I'm going to a Ca emissions station to get a smog pre-check to see if it meets pollution regulations before the actual test. I don't know if I can get a pre-test (Ca gets really strange regarding smog) or not but it's worth a shot. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to intentionally pollute the air more than it already is. I just want a quicker, more fuel efficient truck. Making my vehicle run better should generate less pollution (according to my physics/chemistry knowledge anyway)

Thanks,

mopar2ya

Not too sure about going out to test... you have 2 more years at least to smog that thing... Playing around with a 'what if' can bite you in the butt-- They run it through, you don't pass for whatever reason, then you get on the smog hit list and will have to smog it sooner (plus comply now). Your PCM mod will most likely make you fail-- so be prepared for that. The F&B isn't on the CARB list, so it will most likely fail visual (though if you leave the stock airhat on, they won't see it--) The F&B won't fail you on the tailpipe-- all the smog equip. is there, it only makes the engine more efficient.

Good Luck!

Howdy,

According to Tom (manager at Mike Leach) the chip should pass Ca emissions. He could of lied to make the sale but somehow at doubt this. His headquarters is in Orange, California and he wouldn't be in business long if his product couldn't meet Ca. smog regs. However, you do make a good point regarding a smog pre-test. The last thing I want to do is get on anyone's hit, sh*t or any other bad list. I think I'll wait until the Ca DMV calls.

Thanks

It may very well pass-- but the way things are, even a standard Mopar PCM has been the reason some trucks have failed recently. I speak highly of Tom @ Mike Leach-- I buy a lot of stuff from them, including PCM work (just got my Mopar PCM upped a little more).

Just wanted to prepare you for the DMV nazis... Even a K&N Gen II with Carb numbers won't make the visual-- even with the Stickers under the hood. It's a pain. Anyone want to go in on some property out in Amboy, CA. or something??? No biannual inspections required out there... I can see it now... 5 acre piece of land, 1 16' travel trailer & a mail box. 16 Dakota owners listed as residents... HHAHAHA.
