 Subject: problems with mopar performance intake

I have a 2001 Dakota quad cab with a 5.9. I have had the truck for almost a year and a half with the intake on and I was doing some cleaning under the hood and noticed the filter has a large rip in it. So I took off the intake tube and the base of it has 4 or five large cracks in it. Someone told me when I first got it not to overtighten the main mounting or it would crack so I just finger tightened it. Well long story short has anyone else had this problem and if there is anything I can do about it
