Subject: Technical Question???
IP: Logged

Message:
I've recently gotten '95 5.2 liter Magnum out of a Jeep Cherokee...future father-in-law owns a salvage yard:) I did a visual on the engine and everything seems okay. I was able to turn the crank over and the oil was very clean with no grit or questionable "particles".

I'm wondering about the differences between the '95 versus a '92 Magnum V-8. I realize that there probably aren't that many, but what should I look out for, because I'm going to tear it down and see what's wrong with the engine. If it's a good candidate...I might rebuild it and put it in my '92 Dakota...with some extra go-fast goodies to boot!!!

Any input will be a great help, before I look into buying a rebuild kit or a custom crank kit.

make sure to get the wriring harness. also some have a egr valve and some do not. you might want to check them (i think both have the egr, but check it)

I think you will also need the cfomputer too. While your there you might as well get the MP version.

Thanks for the responses,

If I do re-build this engine...I'll probably go with an M-1 and block off the EGR. Ultimately I'm planning on stroking the 318 with a Hughes kit, but I was worried that there may be something specific with the internals that may affect how I order the kit...I guess I should have been a little more specific in my first thread.

I know that Dodge did a cam change on later models of the 318 in order to lower valvetrain noise, but I was worried that they mave have made "other" changes internally.

if you are going to stroke it, you will be changeing out all of the internals anyway, so it wouldnt really matter.

like the cam, it does not really matter if they changed it or not, because im sure you will be getting a more agressive one anyway.

all you really need is the block
