Does anyone know if Fram makes an EZ drain for the 4.7L? I looked at their website and the book at the store, but they have nothing listed for the 4.7L. The EZ drain is based on the size of the oil drain plug. Does anyone know what the size and threads the drain plug for the 4.7L is? It looks like it woudl work real slick for those of us with the skid plates. Having the drain tube would allow su to change the oil without the oil going all over the skid plate.

I know there are a fe wother threads about the Fram ez Drain. I want to confirm that those who purchased the SD2 in fact haveth ecorrect one. Fram still insist they do not make one for the 4.7L, but others have said the SD2 is the one it takes.

I installed the SD-2 in my 2001 4.7L a month ago and have had zero problems.

Does the EZ Drain remove virtually all the oil from the crankcase?

I don't know yet. It's only been a month since I installed it and have yet to do an oil change. I don't see why it wouldn't allow virtually all the oil. We shall see.

I've got the EZ Drain installed on my truck and there are no problems with old oil remaining in the oil pan.

Nate -- You'll want to use the SD-1 part number.

When I looked at the EZ drain, it seemed that the threaded portion extended into the oil pan and would prevent complete drainage of the oil.

I'm one of those guys that lets all my hot oil completely drip out of the pan.

I bugs me when I go to an oil change place and they don't let it drain for 10 minutes like I do!!!

I have looked at the Fumoto (sp) drain plugs, but they are $40 (I need two). The Frams were about $13 at Wallmart.

I have a 4.7L V8 and MightyDak has a 3.9L V6. If you have the 4.7L, use the SD-2.

Yeah, believe it or not, the part numbers are different for the different engine sizes. Dakaty, you'll never get ALL of the old oil out of your engine no matter how long you let it drip. =) Besides, if you want to ensure that all the oil comes out, you can still take the Sure Drain out and let it drip more if that floats your boat. =) I'm just not that anal. =)

Hey cheak out www.fumotovalve.com
they make the best drain valve from brass and with a ball valve. They come with a nipple for a 1/16" foot long hose from Autozone. I recomend it over Fram and they have been around for years.
