Hello Everyone,

This may sound a little stupid concidering I am coming on a Dakota forum and asking for advice on what truck to buy. But lately I have been very interested in a new Dakota. Can someone please list the pros and cons of the truck. I don't want to take a $25000 hit and end up with crap. Thanks a lot.

Harvey

Well.. I have had mine.. a 2000 club cab sport, 4.7L auto, for about a mth. It was one owner since new prior to me, never winter driven and only 27,000kms (canada) on it..that's well under 20,000mi I think? I am really happy and impressed. I did very little research, but the things I know that give problems a little prematurely are balljoints.. so I hear.
What do you want to know.. maybe that's a better way to find what info you are looking for.

Thank you so much for the reply. I just generally want to know about it. What do you use it for? What is your biggest complaint. This will be my first vehicle ever, I am turning 17 and I have all the money ready to go, I just dont want to be stuck with a lame truck. Do you have any complaints so far?

Thanks Again

not very many mods for it YET, if you're lookin
to go fast, they are very quick trucks, especially
the 5 speeds.

I have had mine for a little over a year, I drag
race it at the local 1/8th mile track once every
other week. I drive it to school and work, its
lowered, its never had any problems, I had the
ball joint noise, but lowered it, and the
problem stopped.

overall, the truck is perfect, except dodge
picked some really lame brakes for the
dakotas.

buy it, you wont regret it !

this is my second Dakota & the only thing I found bad on either one was the front brake rotors like to get hot & warp. So keep an eye on those & wecome to the exciting world of the Dakota.

Hey Harvey,
I love my Dak Sport+, have lots og fun. Truck is strong, pull anything that I feel needs moving. Toy with a Pony every now and then, Outrun an Opel Sportster on occassion. Make some German overheat his BMer trying to stay in front of me. Problems Haven't noticed any real problems. Front brakes squeek a little but them 120 mph hard slowdowns on the auto-bahn, I kind of expect that.
Good Luck,
Lynn
