If i bought one could i be able to at least get the tires to chirp on a 1998 4wd with the 318 when i mash the gas? Which is the best bet for my automatic transmission, who has the best one? Thanks for your help. Oh yeah wouldit help my acceleration?

Making the tires "chirp" isn't necessarily a good thing as it puts too much line pressure in the transmission (valve body and other pressure controlled components) and can cause premature failure of the clutches, driveline, u-joints, transmission mount, etc. Transgo has the best kit out there for the Dodge transmissions as it's calibrated just about perfectly. You can also get some other "upgrades" to the existing kit from us (SpeedTweaks) which include most everything from the accumulator rod, updated pressure regulator valve, and updated clutches/bands and heavy duty overdrive planetary.

B&M has always been known to build their kits a bit more agressive (as in tires "barking" and excessive line pressures) from the past...and have heard the same from the current versions.

Since you are trying to get this "chirp" on a 4WD...think about the punishment you'll be giving the transfer case before you spend about a hundred dollars on a shift kit that gives you that sound. The price of a transfer case far exceeds the value of a shift kit that barks the tires. It's your call...and your truck though.

Bernd, I had a buddy install my transgo kit in my 99 RT, he turned it up as high as possible and drilled the holes a little bigger. The truck lays 3' strips on the 1-2 shift!

Now when i go to te track it seems that maybe it looses momentum on the 1-2 shift causing lower ET?. Is this possible?

How does your valvebody work does it give very crisp shifts or will it bark 1-2 2-3?

Thanks, Might think about a martin saine valvebody and TQ converter soon....

Well, I see how that isnt too good on the tranny and all. Would the shift kit give me good firm shifts without dangering the tranny and those things. I heard a shift kit can help becuz it makes the truck shift quicker so the clutch doesnt slip so much

A properly installed (and designed for the vehicles application) should shift quickly, firmly, but not to the point of breaking tires loose...and can prolong the life of the transmission as well (clutches don't slip as much on the shifts as the factory calibration does).

Spinning tires just slows you down.

I've heard good things about Martin's work and can't say anything bad about it. On the 3' of rubber on the 1-2 shift...it's your transmission and driveline. Have at it...hope your paychecks are large as well when it comes time to rebuild the trans or driveline components.

If you're shifting manually...you WILL notice that it runs slower than in "D". This is an inherent design "issue" going all the way back to the 727/904 transmissions. It's the reverse band not letting go quick enough from low to second. this can be eliminated easily by letting the transmission shift automatically (in "D") or by starting the vehicle in low but switching to 2nd at no more than 1500rpm. You can have the transmission calibrated to remove most of the reverse band clamping down on the 1-2 shift (manually shifting it)...but don't recommend it.
