Is that what came in it??? If not why would you want one of those if a 9 1/4 would fit?

Cause I've heard the 8-3/4 is almost indestructable. The 9-1/4 has more problems than it from what i hear.

I can not respond to that because I just do not know! It would strike me as odd though that dodge would put the 9 1/4 in their full size 1/2 ton trucks if it was not as strong as the 8 3/4. It also strikes me as odd that Dodge would put the 9 1/4 in the 4x4 V8 Dak with tow package!! I know manufactures have done dummer things then that but it would seem counter intuative!! It might seem like the 8 3/4 is more durable because it is usualy behind a V6 4x2 that is not stressing it much. Just something to think about. I will keep an eye out for a 8 3/4 RR Diff. for you!!!! I would make sure that it is a better design before waisting any money!! Good luck!!!!!!!

The 8 3/4 has not been in production since 1974. It is almost identicle to the Ford 9 inch and is about ten times stronger than the 9 1/4. The 8 3/4 has the removable carrier so gear swaps are a breeze.

the 8 3/4 would be overkill for most small block v-8s or 6's. they are about indestructible, and gear swaps are easy, but they take more power to drive. unless you have a SERIOUSLY healthy small block or a big block(which i am doing hehehe) i would stick to a 9 1/4. if you want the 8 3/4, find one out of an a-body( dart duster etc). the spring pads are the right width as is the axle. the only bolt pattern available on the a-body axles is an oddball 5 on 4. moser engineering makes or redrills axles for the more common 5 on 4.5 pattern. the only changes i needed to make to put an 8 3/4 in mine was to cut the lower shock mounts off my weenie 7 1/4 and weld em on to the 8 3/4 housing.

Thanks for the info. I know what you are talking about now. I was thinking 8 1/4. You know Toyota copied the ford 9" in varios sizes from 7.5 to 8.8 and they might have one larger then that in the new Tundra. I have always been a fan of Ford 9" and Toyota copies. It always puzzeled me why anyone would want to use any other design for the rear end of a truck or RWD car.I am sure this design can be made full floating and enlarged and reduced in size for application. It must be due to cost. Ya third memebers rock.
