 Subject: Gear change delay 2nd to 3rd

I am having a problem getting from 2nd to 3rd gear in my 98 dak. I have to get to at least 3000rpm and then let off the gas to get it to shift up into 3rd, after that its fine and shifting down is fine. I have no speedometer issues, my check engine light wont come on, and the brake lights work fine. Also when I check the computer for error codes I get nothing, but something is very wrong and I'm praying its a sensor of some sort and not my transmission. any suggestions? any help will be appreciated.
