 Subject: Rough Fast Idle

My 07 Dakota 4.7 just the other day out of the blue, the engine light popped on and it started idling fast and kind of rough. It idles around 1200 rpm's in park, which makes it slam when you drop it in gear. Now, I went by Auto Zone and had the machine put on it and it showed the idle control valve, I ordered on with my fingers crossed, installed it, and still the same thing. I went by another Auto Zone and had the machine put on it again, and it showed the positioning sensor, so I did the same thing with it, installed one, and still helped none. Can anyone out there please give me some advise as to what is left that could cause this. Thanks so much.

I had the exact same problem with my 5.2L 1998 and I replaced the TPS (throttle position sensor) and it fixed the problem, brought my idle back down to about 600. it was about a 30 dollar part and took me about 10 minutes to replace. Hope this helps.
