Subject: 94 Dakota 2WD 5.2 Won't start

I'll start with the order of events:
Note: This is a 94 with 89,000 miles on
it. It's still got a long life ahead of
it.

0. Wiper motor went out. Replaced it, it
worked and then quit. Just needed a better
ground. Having taken off one of the
battery terminals then re-hooking it, it
died backing out the driveway. The problem
seemed to resolve itself so I stopped
worrying about it.

1.I had a radiator hose bust, drove it
home. Fixed the hose, flushed the
radiator. Worked fine. Wondered if any of
the super heated coolant/water spraying
everywhere would have any effects later.
2. Started noticing the tachometer
bouncing during driving. There was no
sound to match it. Engine sounded fine.
RPMs sounded fine. Continued to drive on
it.
3. Was a matter of days later, the check
engine light came on. I don't think it was
the same day, but shortly thereafter the
truck died while going down the road.
Turns over, never started. Waited a bit,
and it started. Tried to get it to a
friend's house nearby. Died again. It
would run then while I was driving it, you
could just feel that it had some force
fighting against it. You could feel it
struggle then die. Not really any
sputtering. Left it there until a buddy
could help as I did not know how to
diagnose it.
5. Prognosis now. Changed out the horribly
grody ignition coil and the distributor
cap and rotor. My buddy says it's getting
fuel, it's not getting spark. Checked the
ASD relay, checked that 3-way splice in
the wire harness under the relay box
(driver's side by battery) with a test
light and it lit up. We tried turning the
key to get the codes. That was the last
time I saw the check engine light come on.
Right now, we're going to check the cam
shaft sensor and replace if necessary.
If there are any suggestions it would be
much appreciated. Thanks for your time.
