I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500's 360 motor with the
computer and wire harness... i am looking to drop it
into a Dodge Dakota... question is what would be the
best year range to put it into the easiest? Keep in
mind i want horsepower and 4x4 haha

1998 Ram 360 5.9 into a Dakota?

Would the transmission from a '97 to a '04 with the 318 5.2
magnum bolt onto my 98 360 motor out of a Ram? Or
would I have to find a Dakota that had a 360 already?

1997,98,99 would be the easiest. In 2000 they
stopped putting the 318 in Dakotas and started
using
the 4.7. Suggest that you leave those alone as the
bell housing from the 4.7 and 3.9,5.2,5.9 are
different. Any 4X4 will have a 3.9 or a 5.2, Dodge
seldom put a 5.9 in a 4X4, heard of it in a Quad
Cab
but they are rare. I think your easiest swap will
be from a 97-99 4X4 that came with a 5.2. Your 5.9
will definitely bolt up to a 44RE trans and I have
done it. m.colantuoni@hotmail.com
