Subject: 5.2L tech question
IP: Logged

Message:
My father owns a 94 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L (I have a 4.7 Dak). He has been complaining about the lack of low-end torque from his Jeep. The engine is just a dog until 2000 RPMs, where it really takes off. I was wondering if any of you 5.2L Dakota guys (or gals) had any tips or tricks to give his Jeep some off-the-line punch. The only restriction is that the mods have to fit under the low-clearance hood of the ZJ. Thank you in advance.

Get rid of the fan and go electric will help the most or if you have the clearance add an electric fan and change the stock fan to a 4.7 clutch w/5.2 blade. You must use a decent electric with this setup though for it to work.

Second put some additional timing to it.

The 5.2 setup right will run close to the 5.9 and get decent mileage.

As far as the engines are concerned the 5.2 is the same in both the dakota and the jeep, therefore, just find somebody with a 5.2 that's been played with and ask them what they did.

I got a 5.2 in my dak. and I would say the best to do if ya don't wanna spend any $ or very little would be to turn up the throttle position sensor voltage to the maximum limit.
