 Subject: 2005 Dakota Pickup Shift problem

Hello, I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota V8 automatic with about 20,000 miles on it. I started it up the other day and shifted to reverse to backup and nothing happened. The engine revs up fine, it's almost like there's the shift lever isn't hooked up to anything. It just sits there like it's in park all the time. I shifted to drive, same thing. Any gear I try, same thing... feels like it's in park. Anyone have any idea what might be happening here? Your help would be very much appreciated! Thanks

take it to the trans shop, the kit to fix it is like
a few hundred bucks, my 2001 durangos doing the same
thing, but it drives for now, pretty soon mines
gonna be like yours.
