Subject: ASE 4,7 chip/dealer notice?
IP: Logged

Message:
I was reading about the asechip for 2001 4.7.....and i was wondering if the dealer could reflash the chip..... on ase's www site it says there chip is odb II compliant and that dealers could not detect it....but does that mean they cannot reflash it?

There chip is not flashable. It is not dectable to the OBDII scaner.IT will also not set of any mil codes. That is what makes this slightly better then reflash. It can not be undone as easily as a re-flash. They arer also available for 2001,2002 trucks. As far I know leach can not reflash anything newer then 2000!

Only prob with kenne bell is if your truck speed limiter is set at 98 they either cant or wont changeit. It says this in their disclaimer and I emailed them to confirm it.

The trucks with the 98 mph speed limiter is done that way because of drive line problems. OOPS! That's MOPARS fix.

I have had my 02 Dak QC 4x4 4.7 for 3 weeks now and had it over 105mph a couple of times without hitting a speed limiter...I live in California too.

Snowman, you almost hit it bro, mine shuts down at 115, and my truck is a twin to yours, 'cept mine is a '01. It's funny to mess with other trucks since there's no other trucks that have a higher limiter than ours that I know of. Make the other guy hit his first and watch him quit playing because he thinks he messed up his ride!!

I read a post that said "if you unplug your ABS sensor, then the speed limiter will be disabled". Is this a BS story, or a real deal? If it's real, then someone please e-mail me at the address above. Thanks!
