 Subject: how to remove front drive shaft?

I have a 2002 4.7l v8 4x4 and im trying to remove my front
driveshaft. I got the ujoint end off but it wont slide out of
the transfer case. Shouldnt it? Im quite surei have to replace
the berrings insids the flange so i need to take the front
plate off the transfer case so i remove the six bolts anx it
dosent want to move??
