My 93 has 213,000 miles on the odometer and just failed the ca. smog check twice. The truck still runs strong, doesn't smoke, doesn't burn or leak oil so far as I can tell. It is a 4 wheel drive and still climbs whatever I ask it to. I also have a 1994 model with nearly 300,000 miles on the odometer but I have replaced the engine in that one twice. Anybody have a guess as to how many miles one can expect to get out of the 5.2L engine on average before it should be retired?

How is the O2, Cat and EGR valve on the 93.
You said

If that's the case then it is fixable.

The plen. gasket could also could problems.
