That's on the autobahn correct? At this very moment (10:39pm pacific) I'm watching a documentary on that fine highway in Germany on Modern Marvels (History Channel). The highway that Hitler built, where you can get a real ticket for going too slow and not pulling over to the slow lane for faster traffic is against the law. It is here too but there's never CHP around when you need one. (Winnabaygoes-sp beware) According to Germany stats it's safer than U.S.
interstates. I work for Caltrans and I'm envious.

Oh yea, the Mike leach "flash" erased my 98mph speed limiter.

Bruce,

I been preachin' that every since I came here to Germany the first time in 1980. The Germans have wide-open speed limits and don't have 1/5th the accidents per 100,000 miles driven, or 1/2 as many fatal injuries per number of accidents as the USA. That's because the law enforcement enforce the driving laws and forget about the revenue from speed citations. Also the drivers are aware that if you are in the left lane and get rear-ended by a faster driver that the slow driver is wrong not the fast driver. Faster drivers out of survival instinct have faster reactions than do slower drivers and observe greater distances down the highway, to be better prepared for emergencies stops. Slower drivers observe the bumper in front of them and not the brake lights of the 5th car in front of them like the Germans do. UUHH, its just aggravating as he11.

Yes Bruce that is on A-5 south of Frankfurt, DE.

Good Day,

I think they have less accidents because aren't many pushments like DUI so huge? And doesn't it cost several thousand dollars and alot of training to get a drivers license over there? In the U.S. they'll give a blind man a lisence if his seeing Eye dog can bark commands. You could probably walk in drunk and get a lisence here (I'm in Florida by the way). In Lee county where i'm at our roads had one of the highest death rates in the state in 2001. This year its expected to be even higher.

There are a couple reasons for the death rate being so high in Lee County. One is the area; there is a lot of DUI's there. Two is it's on the near bottom end of a hell-of-a long stretch of I-75. After people drive such a long distance from the top of the state to the bottom at such a low speed they are very tired and bored and let their mind wander off from the task at hand. If the speed limit on the long stretches of I-75 was eliminated then the drives would not be as tired by the time they get there. If there were no speed laws on the open stretches of road then the law enforcement could enforce DUI laws. Get a DUI here you might as well have committed murder. Cause you want drive for a long time. (And there is no such word combination as 'police' + 'brutality', these words don't get linked here)

You can get away with DUI pretty easy in Florida. I used to drink and drive all the time but have wised up considerably. I don't drink and drive any longer. No DUI just common sense.

The commute from Lee to Collier county is a dangerous one as well. Speeds of commuters range from 60 to 90mph. About 75% of the traffic is made up of work trucks of al shapes and sizes. And many of them drive absolutely crazy. Alot of the dump truck drivers down here look like they're high on something as well.

Everyone trys to race down here too!!! Could be grandma in a caddy against sonny in his ricer...and they are revving engines to race. Its ridiculous. Season hasn't even started yet.

Oh, by the way big trucks don't speed here, 2 speeding tickets and truck drivers loose there license for a year. Truck speed 63 MPH. It's not like in the US were trucks run 80 - 90 mph.

Mopar2ya, I understood that Leach could NOT raise the 98 limit, only the higher (115) one. Are you sure of your info?
Thanks,

I am pretty sure Leach can raise the limiter. According to Tom the manager at Mike Leach, my limiter was raised to 254mph@8000rpm (Yeeha! I wanted it higher but what a ya gonna' do). In all fairness, I have not had time lately to take my baby out in the farmlands when I know the California Highway Patrol are not around and really lightem' up.

However, the low-end power was so dramatically better (what I wanted) that I had no reason to doubt his sincerity regarding bumping-up the limiter (also what I wanted and Tom said he could do).

I do not know his E-mail and I've never seen it posted.

I have read from various forum posts some interesting reasons why Dodge set the limiter at 98mph. Everything from the stock 15" tires could not handle the speed to the driveshaft vibrates at a sustained speed of over 100mph and fluid leaks from somewhere. Whatever.

Happy Motoring and I hope this helps

I see from your profile we have the same model, right down to the color. I've just bot this low mileage beauty and done most of the standard mods, except the flash. The previous owner got the "death flash" and I think that is what is holding me back. I think I'll call Leach this afternoon. I subscribe to the aluminum driveshaft conspiracy theory on the speed limiter. May Dak came with the tire and handling upgrade but with an aluminum driveshaft and I've got the < 100 MPH limit. I hope you're right about Leach being able to raise it.

I however think I've made a big mistake. I had my flash done before I put in my cams, 180 T-stat, and Autolite plugs. I was told that the flash program is adaptive and could change to accomodate other modifications. Now I'm not so sure. We'll soon find out.

The only other problems I've heard is that Leach can not flash 2001 and 2002. I have no idea why.

Again Good Luck with Leach
