 Subject: 95 V8 to 93 trans. connector

I swapped in a 95 5.2 V8 in my 93 4x4 Dakota, the 95 5.2 connector (to transmission) does not match my 93 transmission connector,the 95 connector has 5 pins, the 93 connector has 4 pins, I can match 4 wire colors ,but there is an orange wire extra on the 95 V8 connector.The 95 V8 came from a donor dakota that had electronic speedometer, My 93 has a cable. So...I am thinking the extra orange wire may be to run the electronic speedometer that I dont have use for with my cable on my 93 transmission. I want to cut the 95 (5) pin connector off and splice my old original 93 (4) pin male connector into the wires. It would then be back original . I am thinking then my overdrive and converter lockup would work. Any advice or input would be of great help if this will be ok? What bad could happen?
