So basically, I'm trying to decide on whether to get a single inlet, dual outlet muffler leading to duals out the back of course...or a true dual with 2 mufflers?

I don't want any powerloss with the HP or torque, but I want it to kinda rumble at idle, growl at acceleration, and..hell, still sound at least a little beefy while cruising, but if not thats no biggie.

To sum it up, this is what I want:

Catback? Unless you guys suggest something better? But I do have a budget.

Duals out the back.

Loud, mean, but not horribly loud. But still LOUD! lol

No loss in power.

I would like an increase in power, if possible.

For around $350 but no more than $400..meaning if its a complete exhaust system for around $350, then okay, cause the shop around here is offering catback, single in, dual out, dual exit for $250.

So I'm asking..

what kind of muffler is suggested?
catback or no?
what size pipe?
and does the size of the tips affect power or sound any?

I have a 00 dakota 4.7 5 speed manual quad-cab running a single in,dual out series 40 flow-master was my only option insted of tru-duals,because of the single oxigen sensor after the cat.It sounds good at idle and thru the gears, but when you really put your foot on the pedal it kinda quiets out insted of getting louder it sounds like too much air and not enough rumble. In my opinion. And diddent noticed much loss in hp.If that helps
