Has anyone out there with a 4.7 auto tried the F&B 70mm throttle body? I was just wondering if it would be a good modification for my truck. I was going to combine it with a Volant air intake kit. I'm kind of new to this and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

2000 4.7L CC no mods (yet).

the only problem with the 70mm is that the idle is pretty high (I've read 1000-1200 rpms at idle) I'm going with the 71mm fastman tb. It uses an OE t-body that is board and polished and also it has a thinner butterfly. At $200 + core you can't beat it.

Is the fast idle permanent, or just until the PCM has had enough time to adjust to the new TB?

The fast idle will occur with any larger TB-- though it's been a floating issue that varys from truck to truck. The 4.7L PCM is slow to adjust to this--

We offer a 30 day return policy on the F&B TBs. The Volant air system (boxed) is probably the best out there-- or use your stock 'air hat box' with an open filter.

If you have more questions, give me a call (after 5 pm pst)

I guess it learns it eventually but takes quite a while, from what I hear. I don't mean to try and sell you something else, but if the dealer sees the TB they could give you a hard time as far as warranty work (if that even applies to you)

the pros with F&B from what I hear:
More power
New piece
you can still keep your original

the cons
$400
voids some warranty stuff
erratic and high idle

I guess its been about 100 miles since I put my Fastman TB on. The pcm has pretty much learned. The but dyno tells me big improvements especially on the low end. Right now i'm playing with fuel economy. So far so good. With more low end I can shift sooner and not have to push rpms so high. It's hard not to haul ass though cause the power is definitely there.

Noting voided with the F&B... Plus you keep your stock unit (you can easily swap back). If a dealer checks out a 'ported' TB, that can throw a red flag just like anything else (if anything, it should only void the warranty for the TB, nothing else).

Would it be better if I also got an aftermarket PCM? (would it learn faster?). Do I have to reset my PCM when putting on a new TB or Intake kit? Thanks for the help.

Get the F&B 70mm you will love it,The idle issue has more to do with the PCM on the 4.7 than the TB,I had a bad idle with my stock 68mm TB that went away when i installed the 70.

Are you still running your stock pcm? Did you lose much low end with the 70mm? Thanks.
