my 92 dakota with the 318 v8 is smoking through the ac vents even when ac and or heat is turned off. the smoke doesnt smell like exhaust. also i can smell what i think is anti freeze when the truck is running. does anyone know what could be wrong

sounds like your heater core is toast. if you can't repair it at this time you can bypass it but it will need to be changed.

It usually is caused by a leaking heater core. Does the smoke smell sweet like coolant? If so, you probably have a leaking heater core.

thanks i think your right about the heater core bein busted it does smell sweet like anti freeze
is this something i could do without removing the heater core i just dont know much about removing it can i just run a line around it or is there a simpler fix like maybe removing a fuse

yes, that is the heater core. spend 20 bucks on a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual and if you're handy with tools you shouldn't have any trouble. it will take time. and if you can't repair it you can bypass the heater core by removing the hoses going to it and looping them together with a pipe nipple and some hose clamps.
