Or could it be that it's just water in the tank.
I put in around 5 gallons of fuel and after a 27 mile trip, the engine started acting up like it was running on fumes, I just happed to pass a BP and just I added 5 more gallons of fuel, So its either very happy on gas on the fuel tank is comtaminated with some water.
One a note: When going down the interstate I did run into some grewsome headwind.

I remember when my truck was just about to run out of gas in town, my dad just happen to roll on my and lucky for me, he had an extra 2 gallons. But it seemed to be mosture in the gas.
So I just bought some STP super Concentrated, and so far so good.
But, there just know way you truck could be burning has at the rate, check you fuel pump.
