 Subject: improve MPGs

Ok, I got a 2002 Dakota with 4.7. I got it with a bad cam bearing so the head is off and will be replaced. SInce I have it apart, I'm wondering what could I do to improve the gas milage. I don't need more horse power or torque, just more MPGs. Are there better cams I could use? A different throttle body? ANy help would be appreciated,

I get 20mpg hiway in my 2000 r/t driving about 75 feet behind semi trucks traveling about 60mph.

i have a 00 qc 4x4 4.7 it had a k&n filter and flowmaster on it when i bought the truck and i got 12 mpg city and 15 highway and i was looking for more power so i put KRC performance 206 cams and a bbk 70mm tb and gutted the third cat and got good power out of it but to my surprise it got 15 mpg city and 17 mpg highway.i now get better than my brother in laws 04 qc and mine is 4x4.

My stock 2004 extended cab 4.7L 4x4 automatic gets 21 mpg highway.

thats crazy, thats way more than the EPA dodge puts out.Is that what the overhead computer telling you and what do you get in the city

I forgot to mention i get 14.5 mpg average in my r/t mostly hiway, I have a job that is 40 miles away, 30 miles is hiway, I drive behind a big rig and I get 20mpg.I only do it when I am low on fuel otherwise I dont reccomend it, risky....

Wow I thought having one was bad.
I guess if some low life stole all your cats you would have to pay a fortune to have them all replaced?

Went from 3.55 gears (19 mpg hiway) to 4.10 gears (21 mpg hiway) front and rear. "Torque arm" is effectively reduced, and now the engine doesn't work so hard moving the beast down the road.
Plus, I'm real easy on that accelerator pedal.
