Does anyone know if the 4.7 is the same as far as bolt patterns for motor mounts and bell housing from 2000-? I see newer 4.7s on ebay for 1200-1800. Since mine is pretty tired with 180,000 on it. Thanks

Motor mounts maybe. New body style in 2005 and 2008. Might have modified the frame and relocated motor mounts or changed the configuration.

Bellhousing attachment maybe. Might depend on transmission. Also engine redesigned for 2008.

I think everything you mentioned may be the same - but there is something important that isn't. At some point ('03 maybe ? - not sure) they changed the count on how a tone ring or something is read. I forget if it may have to do with the cams or crank. It makes the newer 4.7 incompatible with the PCM in the older 4.7 trucks.

just because its tired doesn't mean its shot. could use a good tune up or maybe all new sensors. you would be surprised about the difference replacing sensors will do. Even if you don't have codes popping up, doesn't mean they aren't clogged with crap. Do a compression test before you declare that motor shot.

What are all the sensors your talking about. I cleaned all the one on the TB when I put in a spacer a few months ago. By the way did not notice any difference. Do you mean O2 or any others. I am still getting 15+ on the highway and I drive 140 round trip daily. So I know its not that tired. Just seems to shift in and out of overdrive a lot above 70 when it never did in the past. And I have not changed anything in the past year except the TB spacer after Xmas. And all bolts are still tight for TB.
Thanks

Cleaning sensors may not fix them. In fact it probably won't. If your TPS has a "sticky" spot or MAP or O2 or any other sensor does not read accurately, it will throw everything off and no amount of cleaning will correct a bad sensor (but I'm sure it will make it pretty). I can only get my 03 QC 4x4 4.7 down to 15 on the highway if I'm going over 75 in a head wind. If I keep it around 70 without a head wind, I can pull 19-20mpg. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't O2 sensors be replaced every 60k?

Also, contrary to popular belief, shifting out of OD is GOOD for MPG. Many people attribute this to weakness of the motor, which is BS. The TCM may just be learning to a different driving style or terrain.

Man I had no clue about O2 sensors needing to be replaced. Is there a good aftermarket one I can buy. I think I may get a new TPS also. Whats the other sensor there in the TB next to the TPS.

Also Kowalski did you ever get rid od those HO cams? Thanks

Your Idle Air Control Solenoid is also on the TB. I have dug into my 4.7 yet, but i know sometimes there is a MAP sensor nn the TB. I have personally never replaced an O2 (although I should have). I dont know of any good aftermarket ones, but do a search here - im sure there are some good "reviews".

Kowalski - you're selling your HO cams?

We were talking on here a few months ago about having HO cams or stock cams reground. And you mentioned having your stockers still around. I made a mistake saying HO cams. Thats what happened.

I still have the stockers, but someone then posted only the HO are being reground. Haven't looked into that any further.

in terms of the motor being tired, dirty, old sensors(IAT, O2, ETC) can make a motor run lazy-like, gutless, bad mileage, or a combo of that.

Check out oemdodgeparts dot com for your replacement sensors, good discount over the stealer and only a bit more than aftermarker parts. If I remember correctly, the OEM Mopar O2 sensor I got was made by Bosch,,, the one I took out was made by Bosch also.
