I have a 2000 Dakota Club Cab 4x4 4.7 V8. Just recently i have noticed a slight exhaust noise coming from under the drivers side front. Sounds like an exhaust donut is going bad. If this is it or if anyone has any other info they can give me about this, I would appreciate it. Need to get it fixed because I am starting to think about trading my Dakota for another truck. I hate to trade in or sell my Dakota but I am in need of a bigger truck. My kids just don't fit in the Club Cab anymore and I have a 5200 pound 30 foot travel trailer that I need to pull safely. My Dakota pulled it just fine for the 9 mile trip home from the RV place last February in the cold, but not so sure about a trip from near Rochester NY to Hershey PA in the hot month of August. If I do decide on a different truck, and this is my last post, I want to thank all of the people on here that helped me out with my engine codes, steering shaft problem, and misc. other things. Thanks again!!!

The neat exhaust noise on mine stops when I turn off the engine. I just bought this truck. I waasnt expecting this kind of trouble so soon. Does anybody else have this problem? How do I check for codes? Any help is apreciated.

Common for 1 0r 2 exhaust header bolts to rust off on the left rear.

Thanks for the reply to my question. Not going to worry about it because I pick up my "bigger" truck tomorrow afternoon. I just purchased a 2002 Chevorlet Silverado 2500HD 4x4 4 door shortbox. Has a 6.0 V-8 Auto, Black exterior, grey interior and fully loaded and 66,000 miles. The place I bought the chevy gave me $5,000 for my 2000 Dakota club cab 4x4 with 130,400 miles. Thanks again to everyone that helped me out with my Dakota! I am definetly going to miss that truck. Hope I can find a website like this one for the Chevy! Take care all!
